At the beginning of 2022, I promised myself that I would “just get started, wherever I am with whatever I’ve got” – and I did! Freshly graduated with a fancy new business degree, plus two years of fashion design and two years of metalsmithing under my belt, I rolled up my sleeves and began hammering out the details (literally). Every great story has to start somewhere and that’s where VANDA inspired was born.
I'm excited to approach VANDA inspired’s first year anniversary in just a couple of weeks. So far, it’s been an awesome experience of learning and growth as I'm still refining both my brand and product offerings. If you’re signed up for my email list (sign up below), then you may have already seen mentions of changes in the works. Some new things have already been implemented, like sustainable packaging that grows flowers (learn more), while other things are still in development.
Here’s a preview of what’s coming up this summer…
New product drop schedule
When I first launched VANDA inspired the plan was to release new products every month. Wow! I quickly learned that four weeks just isn’t long enough to go through an entire production cycle. Taking concepts from my mind through design and production to final products, and then creating all the content (images and copy) is much more time intensive than I expected. A few months in I switched to a bi-monthly production cycle, which has been better, but still isn’t quite enough time to flow and create. So, I’m moving to a seasonal cycle. This means I’m dropping new items for Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring. And, of course, each drop still includes a giveaway drawing to show my love for all the support you give to this brand (see details). New shop navigation
It’s time to update VANDA inspired’s website. One of the biggest changes you’ll see is how the shop navigation is organized. Up until now, I’ve been releasing collections with cohesive themes, like Hearts On Parade or Bee Fruitful & Pollinate. Now, I’m expanding drops to include a variety of styles, stones, and types of jewelry. To make it easier to browse and search, you’ll be able to shop my selection in three ways:
- Categories: look for jewelry by type, like earrings, pendants, bracelets, toe rings, etc.
- Collections: these are ongoing collections like Sjarmere Chains or Sea Links.
- Personalized: here’s where you’ll find customized items like Letter Charms.
More sustainable materials
It’s no secret that our planet is important to me. I’ve been proud to be able to use mostly recycled sterling silver from my current supplier in VANDA inspired’s products and, now, there will be even more recycled content in my jewelry! I have two new suppliers, both USA-based refineries, that produce 100% certified recycled metals made from old jewelry, production waste, and dental scrap. Plus, I’ll be working with more vintage and reclaimed stones in upcoming creations.
